Hartford's Downtown Riverwalk
This has been a very ambitious project and oh, what a result! Scroll through the photos to see before construction, the work as it was being done and the progress we made planting in 2017-2018.
2018 Improvements included a rain barrel watering system, more planting and adding the gravel mulch to the Alpine Garden. The Alpine Garden was formally dedicated to the City of Hartford In August.
2019 we concentrated on maintaining our plants in the Alpine Garden. We continued to beautify the south side riverbank by adding 17 screening arborvitae and additional flowers.
2020 we've added a beautiful "Kaleidoscope" planter to the Riverwalk. Everyone who's checked it out loves it! New gardens have been added as well as a major revamp of a space near Main Street.
2022 Many new perennials and shrubs were added along the south side of the river along with beautiful lannon stone edging. We also added 5 new evergreens to the area that we will use in our Christmas Lights display and will add beauty all year long. The highlight of the year is the addition of the Historic Landmark Murals made of mosaic glass and created by Wisconsin artist Pamela Bean of Manitowoc. See our Mosaic Mural page for more details.
What's next? We're not sure yet but keep your eye for more improvements and flowers in the years to come!
We encourage Hartford residents and visitors to feel free to come downtown and enjoy this special place!
Thanks to the generosity of local foundations, businesses, service organizations and individuals, we've come a very long way and Hartford just gets better everyday!
