It's Never Too Early for Christmas

We are asking for donations from our community to help this become a reality again this season. We need donations to cover our costs and to pay the professionals to complete our display. We will honor all donors and volunteers with a large sign at each of the three entrances to the area.

We have had volunteers sign up to illuminate trees - all trees have been assigned! Thank you!

Any amount of donation or any hours spent decorating are so helpful! No amount is too small as the dollars will add up!

Last day to have your donations included on our signs was Oct. 31st. Please don't let that stop you from helping us to continue the display next year! Donations are welcome year round!

New this season! Come see a beautiful

"Memory Tree"

People could sponsor a lit lantern for $100 in memory of a loved one, to be featured in our "Memory Tree" display behind the library.

THANK YOU to everyone who has participated. The Last day to pay for & sign up to sponsor a lantern was Oct. 31st

Riverwalk Lights

Volunteers help illuminate some of the trees with lights. VBH provides the strings of lights - you or a group of people will be recognized as "SANTA'S HELPERS" on one of the 3 large signs at the entrances to the park.

We are reaching out to the community to once again partner with VBH to light over 100 trees along the Riverwalk for the holidays and put up decorations.

We need to raise money in order make this happen again.

Together we create a quaint display that can be enjoyed with a lovely stroll around along the Riverwalk, around the millpond and past Centennial Park.

The lights are turned on after our annual Christmas Parade (Saturday, Nov. 9th 2024) and stay lit until early January.

We hire Rocket Lighting to light focal trees that require special touches and their lift to reach high in the branches. They complete all the electrical hookups and take down the entire display in January.

This project is possible only because of generous donations from local businesses, service organizations, and individuals who sponsor the project monetarily, with their time, or both!

Downtown Decorations

Our volunteers transform our downtown for the holidays. We collect greens and other natural materials and decorate our urns for winter interest.

In 2021,VBH purchased lit wreaths and garlands for the lamp posts in the downtown area.

We will partner with the High School on Saturday morning October 26, 2024 (rain date the following Saturday morning) when students come and volunteer their time to install the garlands and other décor. The kids are just amazing!

VBH adult volunteers install the wreaths because of the extra high ladder work.

The City of Hartford Utility Dept. helps by hanging all the wreaths along busy Hwy 60. At the end of the season the Utility Dept. comes and helps VBH volunteers take down all the wreaths and garlands and we store them away.
